JERSEY CITY, NJ -- Kate Herlihy netted 25 points but Rowan was edged out at New Jersey City, 68-63, Wednesday night in a New Jersey Athletic Conference matchup.

Herlihy hit on a career-high five three pointers on the night, going 5-of-9 from beyond the arc and 8-of-18 from the floor. Sabrina Araujo netted a personal-best 15 points while tying a career high with four triples. Eliana Santana added 13 points and 10 rebounds for her first double double on the year.

Damaris Rodriguez paced all scorers with 29 points for the Gothic Knights. Teammate Dayjah Anderson added 11 as both players each grabbed nine rebounds respectively.

A 12-2 run in the second quarter lifted the home team to a 23-12 lead with 2:29 remaining. Herlihy's three kickstarted a 6-0 spurt to end the half, cutting the deficit to five.

Araujo would hit from downtown early in the third to get within 28-25. Herlihy's layup at the buzzer kept Rowan within seven (46-39) heading into the final stanza.

Tied at 52-52 with 4:53 left after another three-pointer from Araujo, the Profs finally took its first lead of the contest on Santana's bucket in the paint. Just over a minute later, NJCU's Elyssa Russo drained a three for a four-point lead that kept the Gothic Knights on top the rest of the way.

Rowan will return to action on Wednesday, January 3rd, 2024 when nationally-ranked Christopher Newport visits Esbjornson Gymnasium in a 2 p.m. tip.
