Volleyball Taken Down By Drew and Stevens in Tri-Match to Cap Regular Season

Profs set for postsesaon play on Tuesday with a NJAC Quarterfinal at William Paterson

MADISON, NJ -- Rowan fell in identical in 3-1 scores in a tri-match at Drew on Saturday to wrap up the regular season. The Profs lost in four sets to the host Rangers then again to Stevens in the second match of the day.

Against Drew (25-27, 25-22, 25-23, 25-22), each set was won by no more than three points in a close contest the featured 38 ties and 16 lead changes. Rowan put down 14 of its 43 kills in the first set and held off a Drew push to go up 1-0. The Rangers returned the favor in sets two and three, turning away the Profs late in the set. In the fourth, Rowan jumped out to a 5-1 lead and later would grab a 20-16 edge. Drew ran off a 9-2 spurt to notch the four-set decision.

Vanessa Hutchinson hit a career-high 39 digs as Brooke Adams (38 assists/12 digs) and Jena Kaul (13 kills/14 digs) each added double-doubles respectively.

Teeya Desgoutte led Drew with 16 kills and added 13 digs, three blocks (one solo), and two aces.

Rowan then squared off with the Ducks in a four-set affair (25-19, 12-25, 8-25, 7-25). The Profs mustered 22 kills with Maya Iovacchini, Sydni Greenwood, and Maya Rosenthal each registering five apiece. Abigial Webster kicked in 18 assists and 11 digs for her first career double-double.

Next up for Rowan is a trip to William Paterson on Tuesday in a NJAC Tournament quarterfinal match. The fifth-seeded Profs, looking to repeat as conference champs, take on the fourth-seeded Pioneers starting at 7 p.m.
