WAYNE, NJ -- Rowan had its season come to a close as the sixth-seeded Profs fell 3-1 (22-25, 25-18, 25-14, 25-15) at third-seeded William Paterson Tuesday night in a NJAC Tournament Quarterfinal matchup.
After winning the first set and reaching double-digit kills in the first two sets, the Profs totaled 10 over the final two as the Pioneers advance to the semifinal round.
Brooke Adams put together 27 assists, five digs, three blocks (one solo), and an ace.
Jena Kaul collected a team-high 12 kills with rookie
Ciara Bradley adding nine kills and three blocks (one solo).
A late five-point swing in the first set turned an 18-16 deficit to a 21-18 lead that Rowan kept throughout to go up 1-0 in the match.
The Pioneers countered with a 9-1 in the second to go ahead 17-8 and later 20-9.
Maya Iovacchini had two kills as part of a 4-0 spurt to get within 22-17, but back-to-back kills from WPU's Cecilia Miller helped tie things a set apiece. In the third, William Paterson broke open a 12-10 score with a 12-3 stretch to take a 2-1 advantage.
The Profs battled from a deficit to take an 11-10 edge, but could muster four points the rest of the way.
Miller finished with 16 kills and 13 digs. Teammate Natalie Zabloudil turned in a match-high 19 kills.
Rowan finishes the 2023 season with a record of 9-21.
