Eliana Santana leads with a season-high 17 points

GLASSBORO, NJ – Eliana Santana scored a team-high 17 points to help Rowan 71-51 win over TCNJ in NJAC women's basketball action at Esby Gym, as the Profs (4-3; 1-1 NJAC) picked up their first conference victory under new head coach Kate Pearson.

Sabrina Araujo scored 14 points while hitting a team-high four three-pointers, and Kate Herlihy added 12 points and Kristina Johnson led with seven rebounds. Santana made 7-of-10 field goal attempts on the evening to notch her season-high in points.

With the teams tied, 26-26, at halftime, Rowan outscored the Lions, 22-15, in the third quarter thanks to a 4-for-5 shooting effort from behind the arc. The Profs started to take control and after back-to-back threes by Savanna Holt and Jess McLaughlin at the end of the quarter, owned a 48-41 lead.

The Profs kept rolling in the fourth quarter and broke open the 54-46 game scoring nine consecutive points, including five from Herlihy, to take a 61-46 advantage. Rowan extended that run, outscoring the Lions, 19-3, to take its biggest margin of the game, 71-49, in the final minute.

The Profs got off to a slow start as TCNJ (3-3; 1-1) used a 12-0 run in the first quarter to own a 12-8 lead as Rowan struggled from the field, hitting just 3-of-18.

Rowan heated up in the second quarter, hitting 7-of-14 field goal attempts. The Profs rallied from a 16-8 deficit with six straight points, including four from Santana, to come within, 16-14. Rowan took a brief 26-24 lead after three-pointer from Herlihy, but TCNJ tied the contest with a bucket before halftime.
