PITMAN, NJ -- For the second consecutive season, Emma DeMaise has been named the New Jersey Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Year as the 2023 year-end awards were announced on Wednesday.

A total of seven Profs were honored by the NJAC. Joining DeMaise on the first team is Julianna Giordano, Olivia Giordano, and Lianna SanFelice. Calista Burke and Mackenzie Clement were selected to the second team and Sarah Bergan earned a spot as an honorable mention.

DeMaise earns her third-straight all-league honor while the Giordano sisters, SanFelice and Burke pick up their second. Bergan and Clement get first-time accolades.

This season, DeMaise, along with Burke and Julianna Giordano anchor a defense that is ranked third in Division III in goals against average and save percentage, yielding just four goals in 16 games this year.  Burke also has recorded 10 shutouts while starting all 16 games in net.

Clement leads the team with 15 goals and 32 points with Olivia Giordano right behind with 12 goals and 27 points. Bergan (four goals) and SanFelice (two goals) pace the Profs with six assists apiece.

After its 3-0 semifinal win over New Jersey City on Tuesday, #11 Rowan will host #15 TCNJ in the NJAC Championship here on Friday at 5 p.m. Ticket prices for all NJAC Championship games are $10 for adults, $5 for students (with ID), $5 for senior citizens, and $5 for children. The first 100 Rowan students are free with ID.

All ticket sales are CASH ONLY and no passes will be accepted.
