Volleyball Picks Up 3-0 Victory at NJCU; Adams Hits Milestone in Win

JERSEY CITY, NJ -- Rowan moved closer to a playoff berth in the NJAC Tournament with its 3-0 conference win at New Jersey City Tuesday night. Set scores were 25-10, 25-16, 25-13.

Junior Brooke Adams recorded her 3,000th career assist in the victory, becoming just the third player in program history to accomplish the feat. Adams totaled 35 assists on the evening to give her 3,031 for her career to move her into third place in the team record books. Joelle McNulty holds the all-time mark with 3,424 and Sharon Clyde sits in second with 3,193 assists.

The Profs are in the hunt for one of the last two seeds in the six-team conference playoff that begins on November 7th.

Rowan held a 39-15 advantage in kills and had 14 aces in the match. It was the sixth time the team totaled 10 or more aces this season.

Individually, five of those aces came from Jena Kaul, which also ties a career best. The sophomore also added a match-high 12 kills and tied for the team lead, along with Vanessa Hutchinson, with eight digs. Maya Iovacchini kicked in nine kills and Isabel Kirchner added six respectively. Maya Rosenthal registered a season-high five kills.

Back-to-back kills from Kirchner broke a 6-6 tie in the first set which helped ignite a 19-4 Prof run. In the second, Rowan ran out to a 9-2 lead and kept a comfortable lead to go up 2-0. The Gothic Knights kept pace in the third set, keeping the score within four (11-7). But the Profs were able to close it out thanks to a 6-1 stretch that featured back-to-back kills from Rosenthal.

The Profs play at DeSales on Saturday in a tri-match. Rowan squares off with Baruch at 1 p.m. followed by a 3 p.m. contest against the host Bulldogs.
