Volleyball Evens Up at Tri-match at DeSales

CENTER VALLEY, PA -- Rowan went 1-1 at Saturday's tri-match at DeSales, defeating Baruch, 3-1, but falling to the host Bulldogs, 3-2.

The Profs first match against Baruch (23-25, 25-11, 25-9, 25-17), Maya Iovacchini erupted for a career-high 15 kills with Jena Kaul adding a match-best 16.

After falling in the first set, Rowan ran off three wins in a row, hitting 41-6-81 over the final three sets and 58-13-123 (.366) for the contest.

The second match of the day saw the Profs force a fifth set but fell in five to DeSales (25-17, 20-25, 20-25, 25-13, 10-15). Kaul kept the hot hand, as she was a kill shy of tying a personal best with 21, a match high. Five players had double-digit digs led by Vanessa Hutchinson's match-high 25. Kaul added 12 and Brooke Adams had 11 to go along with 45 assists as each recorded a double-double.

Rowan took the first set, but the Bulldogs responded with late pushes in the second and third to take a 2-1 lead in the match. In that fourth set, a huge Prof 10-0 run opened up a 7-7 tie where the visitors cruised to force a fifth.

DeSales got out to an 8-3 advantage in that fifth and was able to hold of the Profs to pick up the win.

Next up for the team is a NJAC matchup at Kean on Tuesday. With a win, Rowan can cement a postseason berth in the conference tournament that begins on November 7th.
