GLASSBORO, NJ -- Rowan scored a win in its home opener Tuesday evening as the Profs took down Muhlenberg, 3-1 (23-25, 25-17, 25-18, 25-19).
Natalie Ogden hit a personal milestone in the fourth set as the senior collected her 1,000th career dig. She joins teammate
Simone Sparano who accomplished the feat last season. For the game Ogden was one of five Profs with eight or more kills, recording a match-high 13.
Jena Kaul added 11 while
Isabel Kirchner and
Sydni Greenwood each kicked in nine and
Courtney Rhoden put down eight.
The Profs raced back after dropping the first set, fighting through 12 ties and four lead changes in the second. Rowan broke open a 16-16 score in that second set, running off eight-straight points to eventually win it, 25-17.
In the third set, kills from Kaul and Greenwood helped the Profs turn a 13-13 score into a 16-13 lead the team did not relinquish to go up 2-1 on the night. Rowan would close it out in the fourth, jumping out to a 6-1 lead and did not trail the rest of the way.
Sparano ended the night with 23 digs, a match high with
Brooke Adams producing 44 assists. Odgen added nine digs and four aces as well.
For the Mules, Esmae Oehler notched 12 kills with teammate Christina Marcin contributing 10 kills, seven digs and two blocks.
Rowan will host a tri-match on Saturday beginning at 11 a.m. against Widener. The Pride then takes on Catholic at 1 p.m. followed by the Cardinals and Profs closing it out at 3 p.m.
