SAN ANTONIO, TX -
Alex Ferrara's goal in the 75th minute gave Rowan a 3-3 tie with #13 Trinity in men's soccer action, as the Profs fought back from a pair of deficits. It was the senior's first career goal as Rowan (1-1-1) heads home from its two matches in Texas with a win (over Southwestern) and a draw.
Â
Trinity, the host team, took a 3-2 lead before halftime and the score remained that way until late in the second half. After
Chad Yates sent a ball into the box, a Trinity defender headed it to Ferrara, who volleyed it off the right post for the equalizer at 77:56.
Â
Rowan opened the scoring just four minutes into the match as freshman
Davide Caputo netted the first goal of his career off a pass from
Wilby Alfred.
Â
Trinity (1-0-1) followed with a pair of goals within a two-minute span to take a 2-1 lead. Alfred tied the match with his first goal of the year, as
Luke Yates and
Jake Logar assisted, at 24:46.
Â
Trinity's Adam Knutson put the Tigers ahead, 3-2, at 41:51, and the score remained that way until Ferrara's goal.
Â
The Profs were outshot, 22-13, but goalkeeper
Chay Kaplan came up with five saves in his second consecutive start.
Â
This closes out a stretch of three road games in four days as the Profs opened the year in Baltimore and played back-to-back matches in Texas. Rowan plays its first home match of the year on Wednesday evening against Haverford, with a 7:30 p.m. start.
