Ogden Named MVP; Camponelli, Rhoden named to all-tournament team

MORRISVILLE, NY -- Rowan Volleyball stormed out of the gates in its season opening action, winning all four matches at the Mustang Tournament hosted by Morrisville State Friday and Saturday.

Natalie Ogden was named the MVP of the weekend action and was joined on the all-tournament team along with Jackie Camponelli and Courtney Rhoden. Ogden totaled 56 kills in the four matches while hitting .290. Camponelli racked up 17 aces, including six against Oswego, and 11 digs. Rhoden was a force in the middle, totaling 33 kills and six solo blocks.

The Profs picked up a 3-1 win over Oswego State and a tough 3-2 victory over Misericordia on Friday night. On Saturday, the squad nailed down two more victories, both 3-0 decisions against Sage and the host Mustangs.

In Friday night's action, freshman Jena Kaul led the Profs with 14 kills in her Rowan debut against Oswego (25-17, 21-25, 25-21, 25-14). Ogden tacked on 11 kills and 14 digs for a double double.

Against Misericordia, the Profs battled back from a 2-0 deficit winning three-straight sets to pull it out. Ogden had the hot hand, dealing out a match-high 18 kills.

On Saturday, Rowan made quick work of Sage (25-21, 25-10, 25-15) before ending the weekend with a 4-0 mark by downing Morrisville State (25-22, 25-21, 25-20).

Rowan will have the home opener here at Esby Gymnasium on Tuesday when the Profs take on Muhlenberg at 7 p.m.
