Chay Kaplan notched the shutout as the Rowan men's soccer team defeated Washington College, 1-0, in a non-conference matchup at the Rowan Soccer & Lacrosse Complex. Rowan improves to 5-3-1 on the year while Washington drops to 1-3-2.Â

Yates broke a scoreless tie at 29:23 when
Luke Yates controlled the ball along the left sideline and passed it to
Johnny Troiano. Troiano then slipped a pass back to Yates, who was inside the box, and placed it inside the right post for the gamewinner. It was Yates' team-high fifth goal of the year, and his third game-winning tally.

Kaplan, who had missed the last two matches with an injury, made his return in net and picked up his second consecutive shutout. The sophomore made two saves to pick up his third win of the year.

Rowan outshot the Shoreman, 12-7, on the evening with WC keeper Anthony Pinto needing to make seven saves.

The Profs open NJAC play on Saturday night, when they host Kean at 7 p.m.
