Chad Yates scored two goals and goalkeeper
Dylan Aportela recorded the win in his first career match, as Rowan defeated Mount Saint Vincent, 3-1, in men's soccer action this evening as the Profs improve to 4-3-1 on the year.
Yates tallied the Profs' final two goals in the second half to give Rowan a 3-0 lead. Aportela, a sophomore, played in his first match in goal as a Prof, making the start and earning his first victory. He made four saves, including one on a direct kick in the second half when he punched the attempt over the crossbar.
Mason Martelloni put Rowan up, 1-0, late in the first half, when he took a curving free kick from
Johnny Troiano and headed it in. It marked the junior's second straight match with a goal.
The Profs extended the lead to 2-0 at 56:06 as Yates carried the ball from the right sideline to the top of the box and blasted one into the right corner.
Yates put the game out of reach at 81:06 when
Ryan Gale sent a perfect cross to Yates who sent it into the net along the right post.
Mount Saint Vincent (3-2) ruined Aportela's shutout bid with a goal by Lucas Turano at 86:56.
The Profs are back in action on Tuesday night at home when they host Washington (MD) at 7 p.m.
