GLASSBORO, NJ -- Rowan ran off a 12-0 spurt in the third set to help close out a 3-0 victory (25-18, 25-23, 25-15) over Cabrini Thursday evening in Esbjornson Gymnasium.
The Profs trailed 15-13 in that final set before scoring the next 12 points to keep Rowan unbeaten on the season.
Courtney Rhoden contributed six blocks (two solo) and four kills while
Natalie Ogden was a dig shy of a double-double. Ogden totaled a match-high 15 kills, while surpassing 900 career kills on the night, along with nine digs and three blocks.
Simone Sparano (17) and
Vanessa Hutchinson (11) both reached double-digit digs and the duo served up two aces apiece.
After erasing an 8-4 deficit in the first set, Rowan later led 16-15 and opened up a sizable lead thanks to six-straight points. Ogden put the finishing touches with her sixth kill of the set to go up 1-0.
The Cavaliers used a scoring run of their own in the second to knot things up at 16-16 but the Profs countered with four points in a row. The home team was able to hold off Cabrini to go up two sets to none.
Down 13-8 in the third, Rowan whittled the deficit down to 15-13 before the game-changing scoring stretch to help cement the final score.
For Cabrini, Hannah Dalton led the team with 11 kills. Melanie Cotes-Rivera kicked in 13 assists, eight digs and three aces.
This Saturday, Rowan travels to Goucher for a tri-match with the Gophers and Eastern. The Profs take on the home team at 11 a.m. followed by a matchup with the Eagles following at 1 p.m.
