HAVERFORD, PA –
Turlough Gartlan scored the game's lone goal to lead Rowan (2-2-1) to a 1-0 win over Skidmore in men's soccer action today at the Jimmy Mills Classic.
The sophomore took a pass from
Luke Yates to convert the goal in the 32nd minute. It was the second goal of Gartlan's career, and also his second gamewinner.
The Profs applied the pressure offensively, outshooting Skidmore, 21-15, but holding a 12-4 edge in shots on goal, forcing goalkeeper Bobby Stratts to make 11 saves on the day.
Chay Kaplan and
Tomas Lazicki combined to record the shutout, with Kaplan playing 85 minutes and making three saves. Lazicki entered the match in the final minutes and stopped one shot.
Rowan will be back in action in the tournament on Sunday when it takes on Lycoming at noon.
