Women's Lacrosse Wins Fifth Straight, Defeating Montclair State, 18-7, to Clinch #2 Seed in NJAC Championship

Profs to host Stockton on Wednesday at 6 p.m.

MONTCLAIR, NJ – Ashley Lechliter and Elise Cohan scored four goals apiece to lead Rowan to an 18-7 win at Montclair State in the regular-season finale to clinch the second seed in this week's NJAC Women's Lacrosse Championship. The Profs have now five in a row, improving to 9-7 overall and finishing 5-1 in the conference. Rowan will host third-seeded Stockton in an  NJAC Semifinal contest on Wednesday, May 4 at 6 p.m.

NJAC CHAMPIONSHIP BRACKET

Jamie Cutrera added three goals, Erin Renshaw and Julianna Corson each had two goals and two assists, and Molly Green tallied two goals for the Profs.
 
Reilly Shaup faced 27 shots from the Red Hawks and made seven saves on the day in goal.
 
The Profs led from the start, taking a 4-1 lead, with two goals from Cohan, and were ahead, 4-2, at the end of the first quarter. Lechliter netted Rowan's first goal of the contest, which was her 40th of the season.
 
Cohan, Corson and Green scored consecutive goals in the second quarter as Rowan ran up a 7-2 lead before Montclair State tallied three straight goals to pull within, 7-5, at halftime.
 
Corson scored the first goal of the second half, and after Montclair tallied another, the Profs rattled off four straight goals, one from Renshaw, two by Cutrera and one from Lechliter to take a 12-6 lead. Montclair scored with 59 seconds to play in the quarter but Lechliter added one more with :10 on the clock to increase the lead to 13-7.
 
The fourth quarter was all Rowan as the Profs netted five more to close out the scoring. Green tallied a man-up goal, Lechliter teamed up with Cohan for another, and Cutrera had an unassisted goal. Cohan scored her fourth with the assist from Chloe Shea and Shannen Sterner took a pass from Renshaw for Rowan's final goal.
