Sterner Nets the Gamewinner in Overtime as Women's Lacrosse Edges Cabrini, 17-16

Senior tallies a career-high five points in the win

RADNOR, PA  - Shannen Sterner scored the game-winning goal in overtime as Rowan held on for a 17-6 win over Cabrini, in women's lacrosse action today. It was Sterner's career-high fourth goal of the contest.
 
Cabrini's Dana Carlson scored two goals in the final 34 seconds, including one at the buzzer, to send the game into the extra period. Molly Green won the draw control for the Profs at the start of the extra period and Sterner ended the game by scoring at 5:11.
 
Sterner also added an assist on the day to reach a personal best with five points. Erin Renshaw tallied three goals and three assists for a career-high six points, while Jamie Cutrera netted three goals and an assist, and Green, Elise Cohan and Ashley Lechliter had two goals apiece for Rowan (4-6)

Rowan goalie Reilly Shaup faced 36 shots from Cabrini (4-6) and came up with 16 saves to earn the victory.
 
Rowan never trailed during the game, although the teams were tied four times in a tight contest. Rowan held a 4-3 lead after one quarter, helped by two goals from Jamie Cutrera.
 
The Profs rattled off four straight at the start of the second to take their biggest lead of the game, 8-3. Erin Renshaw tallied two in that stretch, with Ashley Lechliter and Sterner adding one apiece. But Cabrini added four of the next five goals, surrounding a score from Elise Cohan, to pull within 9-7 at halftime.
 
Cohan started the scoring in the second half and while Sterner added a free-position goal, Cabrini would eventually tie the score, 11-11. Green and Julianna Corson scored 29 seconds apart to give Rowan a 13-11 lead.
 
Renshaw and Cutrera helped build the Profs' lead up to 15-12 in the fourth quarter. After another two Cabrini goals, Lechliter scored a man-down goal with :46 that appeared to seal the win, but Carlson came through with the pair of goals to force overtime.
 
The Profs get a lengthy break before opening up NJAC play when they host TCNJ on Tuesday, April 12 at 6 p.m.
