Women's Lacrosse Upsets #24 Washington College, 15-7

Corson scores 4 with Green and Cutrera adding 3 goals apiece

Highlights

GLASSBORO, NJ
 - Rowan's women's lacrosse team turned in an all-around team effort as the Profs upset #24 Washington College (MD), 15-7, in women's lacrosse action today.  Julianna Corson scored four goals and Molly Green and Jamie Cutrera added three apiece as the Profs snapped a two-game losing streak in the cold rain at the Rowan Soccer and Lacrosse Complex.

Corson added two assists for a six-point game, with Ashley Lechliter recording a goal and assist.

The Profs scored the first three goals of the game, led by Green scoring on Rowan's first possession. Shannen Sterner scored two minutes later and then Corson followed with her first of the game. Washington scored their first with five minutes to go in the quarter and Lechliter answered back with one for Rowan, with the Shorewomen adding the final goal as Rowan held a 5-3 lead at the end of the first.

Rowan (2-2) outscored Washington, 3-1, in the second quarter to run up an 8-3 lead by halftime as the Profs got goals from Corson, Cutrera and Michaela Donnelly.

Washington (1-3) made up some of the deficit in the third quarter closing to 9-6 but Cohan netted her second of the quarter at :44, with the assist from Lechliter, and Green scored another with :06 left to push Rowan's lead back up to 11-6.

The visitors opened the fourth with a goal, but the Profs closed it out strong with four consecutive goals from Cutrera (2), Corson and Green to earn the victory.

"I'm really proud of them. We did everything that we discussed after the Stevens game, which we considered a letdown. They put into their performance in today's game. In the third quarter, we were up 8-3, very similar to being up 7-3 at Stevens. They (Washington) scored quickly, so it was déjà vu' and we called a timeout and regrouped and scored two. I'm super proud of them," said head coach Lindsay Delaney.

Rowan outshot Washington, 35-21, and had a 24-14 edge in shots on goal. Prof goalie Reilly Shaup made seven saves with Green picking up a team-high four ground balls and three caused turnovers.

Rowan will head on its Spring Break trip next week and will face Rhodes on March 16 in St. Leo, FL, and then #17 Denison on March 18 in Haines City, FL.
