GLASSBORO, NJ -- Rowan concluded its dual meet portion of the season schedule unblemished as the Profs battled past Merchant Marine, 170-130, Saturday afternoon at the Tony Lisa Natatorium on Senior Day.
FINAL RESULTS
It is the first time since the 1994-95 season that Rowan (6-0-1, 4-0-1 NJAC) went undefeated in dual meets.
In between the diving and swimming sessions the program took time to honor its five seniors:
Veronica Alferez (graduate student),
Erin Quay,
Kylie Salerno,
Natalie Smith, and
Leenah Sarhan.
Alferez turned in quite the performance, winning three events in the 500 free (5:17.08), 1000 free (10:44.54) and the 200 IM (2:14.31), and was part of the 200 free relay squad that was third (1:46.71).
Jordan McChesney won two individual and two relay events. First, she teamed with Salerno,
Bella Stefanowicz, and Smith to win the 200 medley relay (1:53.16). Next, she captured first in the 50 free (24.43), then later the 100 free (54.68). The 200 free relay foursome of
Elizabeth Jones,
Laura Jones, and Salerno timed in at 1:42.20, just 0.06 ahead of USMMA in second.
Other first-place finishes in the meet included Smith in the 200 fly (2:16.84), Stefanowicz in the 100 breaststroke (1:09.59),
Emma Padros in the 200 backstroke (2:14.97), and
Lindsay Cave in the 200 free (2:01.76). Stefanowicz also picked up a second place (200 breaststroke) and a third place (200 IM).
Emmy Higgins took home a first place spot (200 breaststroke) and two second place positions for the visiting Mariners (9-3).
The Profs now prep for the Metropolitan Conference Championships taking place February 17-20 up at Rutgers-New Brunswick.
