PHILADELPHIA, PA --
Ella Pennington has earned her third-straight Philly-SIDA Academic All-Area Women's Swimming & Diving Team honor.
The Philly-SIDA Academic All-Area teams are nominated for, and voted on, by the sports information directors at 30 institutions in the Philadelphia region. To be considered for the award, student-athletes must be in at least their second year at their current institution and hold a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.30 or higher to be considered for nomination.
Pennington capped off her illustrious career in March, earning her seventh career All-American honor at the Division III Swimming & Diving Championships including her second-straight honor in the 100 backstroke.
The Biomedical Engineering major garnered with six All-NJAC honors, earning first-team accolades in the 100 fly, 200 back, and 200 IM, a second-team award in the 800 free relay and a pair of honorable mention nods in both the 400 free and 400 medley relays. Out of the pool, the junior earned a spot on the CSC Academic All-District team for the third year in a row.
Joining Pennington on the team are Sydney Bergstrom and Anna Moehn of Penn, Anna Farley, Meghan Tiernan, and Katie White of Villanova, Genine Collins and Quinn Weygandt of Swarthmore, La Salle's Gabriela Herbreder, and West Chester's Lenya Ryan. Collins was voted the performer of the year.
