GLASSBORO, NJ -- #19 Rowan capped its undefeated dual meet slate with an impressive 172-128 victory over previously unbeaten Merchant Marine on Senior Day here at Tony Lisa Natatorium on Saturday.
FINAL RESULTS
The Profs, who move to 6-0 and 4-0 in NJAC action, nail down an unblemished record for the first time since the 1998-99 season.
In between the diving and swimming sessions the program took time to honor its five seniors:
Greg Cann,
Kevin Gillooly,
Matt Maretic,
Dylan Regan, and
Kevin Yanagisawa.
Cann and Gillooly each picked up a pair of first-place finishes, but it was
Joe Rucci who captured three top spots on the day.
Rucci took first in the 1000 free (9:59.40 – a season best), 100 fly (51.51) and the 200 IM (1:57.30).
Cann scored wins in the 100 (59.55) and 200 breaststroke (2:11.43) while Gillooly was victorious in the 100 (49.84) and 200 backstroke (1:51.38 – a season best).
Yanagisawa claimed first in the 200 fly (1:53.65) and second in the 100 fly (52.14). Maretic timed a season-best in the 50 free (22.06) while Regan took home a second place in the 100 free (47.54).
Alex Volin (200 free – 1:43.11),
Andrew Fenton (100 fly – 53.78), and
Tobias Cahnbley (500 free – 4:43.92) also notched first-place wins for Rowan.
The Profs now prep for the Metropolitan Conference Championships taking place February 17-20 up at Rutgers-New Brunswick.
