CAMDEN, NJ -- Rowan shot over 50% from the floor in the second half to pull away for an 82-53 New Jersey Athletic Conference victory at Rutgers-Camden Wednesday night.
Nicole Mallard led four players in double figures with 15 points as the Profs turned a three-point halftime lead into an 18-point advantage heading into the final quarter.
Grace Marshall added 14 points with
Kate Herlihy and
Dakota Adams kicking in 11 and 10 points respectively. On the glass,
Ayanna Johnson snared a game-high 11 rebounds and added two blocks, two steals, and two assists.
Rahzirah Blocker led the Scarlet Raptors with 17 points and seven boards.
Rowan held a single-digit lead throughout the first two quarters as the Profs were only 28.9% in the first 20 minutes. Leading 29-23 with just over a minute before the half, Rutgers-Camden was able to cut it to 29-26 at the half.
The Profs found its touch in the third, going 11-of-21 (52%) from the field with Marshall and Herlihy each scoring seven points in the stanza. Rowan held a 58-40 edge going into the fourth. In that final frame, it was all Profs, as the lead would swell to as much as 35 late in the contest.
Rowan held a 44-33 rebounding advantage and converted 37 Scarlet Raptor turnovers into 41 points.
Next up for the Profs is a home matchup with Ramapo on Saturday here at Esbjornson Gymnasium in a 3 p.m. tipoff.
