WORCESTER, MA -- On the first day of the WPI Gompei Invitational on Friday, Rowan scored NCAA marks while winning two relays.
DAY 1 RESULTS
Jack Watson swam a 21.23 in the 50 free prelims, then hit a NCAA 'B' cut in the finals with a time of 20.48. Another NCAA 'B' cut time was hit by
Tobias Cahnbley in the 500 free, where his time of 4:32.64 placed him second overall.
The 200 medley relay team of Watson,
Jimmy Kundrats,
Joe Rucci, and
Paul Riter were first in a time of 1:32.50. Watson and Cahnbley joined Nico Andriato, and
Alex Volin in the 800 medley relay for a first-place time of 6:54.25.
Additionally, Rucci claimed the top time in the 200 IM preliminaries (1:52.98) and finished second in the finals (1:53.01).
After the first day of competition, the Profs sit in second place in conjunction with the women's team with 1392 points out of nine scoring teams. Action continues through Sunday at the three-day event.
