OWINGS MILLS, MD --
Natalie Ogden collected another personal milestone in collecting her 1,000 career kill in the Profs match against Stevenson as part of a tri-match on Saturday.
Ogden now has registered over 1,000 career digs and 1,000 kills as a Prof, making her the first player to do so in program history. She collected the dig record on September 6th in a home win over Muhlenberg. With a career total of 1,003 kills, she is the third player in program history to hit the 1k mark.
The Profs did fall 3-0 to the host Mustangs (25-21, 26-25, 25-14) in that match, the second of the day. Earlier, Rowan picked up a 3-0 (25-17, 31-29, 25-21) victory over McDaniel.
Against McDaniel, Ogden tied for the team highs in both kills (11) and aces (3).
Brianna Newson added 11 kills and
Maya Iovacchini served up three aces.
After taking the first set, the Profs saw the Green Terror put together an 8-0 run to take a 23-20 lead. Down to set point at 24-22, back-to-back kills from Ogden and Newson helped extend the set where Rowan came out on top. In the third set, Rowan used a four-point spurt late to go up 21-15 and finish off McDaniel.
Ogden collected her 1,000th kill late in the second set against Stevenson. She would finish the match with a double double (12 kills/10 digs). Newson and
Courtney Rhoden contributed seven kills apiece.
Rowan would get within four (19-15) after a 6-0 run in the first set, but drop a 25-21 score. Another big scoring stretch in the second set (9-0) helped put the Profs ahead, 14-10. Rowan looked to tie it at one set apiece, leading 24-22, but saw the Mustangs pull out a 27-25 result.
The team plays at Ramapo on Wednesday in NJAC action starting at 7 p.m.
