EWING, NJ –
Gil Ferreira had a goal and an assist, and
Dylan Aportela recorded his third consecutive shutout, to lead Rowan to a dominating 5-0 win over TCNJ (6-9; 1-6) in NJAC men's soccer action. The win improves the Profs to 7-5-4 (2-2-3 NJAC) on the year.
Ferreira scored almost immediately, just 1:26 into the match, as
Johnny Troiano sent him a cross from the left, and Ferreira put it into the right side of the net.
Ferreira then assisted on a goal by
Aidan McGuigan, for the first score of his career, just minutes later at 5:23.
The Profs waited until the second half to then rattle off three more goals, beginning with one from Troiano at 65:35, set up by a back pass from
Chad Yates.
Freshman
Armando Santana tallied his first goal as a Prof at 74:23 as he took a pass from Ferreira and put it into the bottom right corner.
Chris Spicer rounded out the scoring with his first of the season with just 53 seconds remaining as he chipped it into the goal, with the assist from
Nick Salazar-Escobar.
Rowan held an 18-9 lead in shots and Aportela made one save to record his third consecutive shutout.
The Profs will host William Paterson on Saturday at 7 p.m. as part of Rowan's "Homecoming", in which Rowan's seniors will also be honored.
