Volleyball Trumps NJCU, 3-1; Improves to 7-0 in the NJAC

Highlights

GLASSBORO, NJ -- Rowan took down New Jersey City, 3-1 (25-8, 25-16, 23-25, and 25-17), Tuesday evening to move to 7-0 in NJAC action on the season.

The Profs used a season-high 13 kills from Isabel Kirchner with Natalie Ogden and Jena Kaul each contributing nine as the team racked up 51 kills while hitting .298 for the match.

Setter Brooke Adams filled out the stat sheet with 38 assists, five digs, four aces, and three kills. Dani Emrich tied a career high with three aces.

The first two sets saw Rowan total 28 kills on 53 attempts, to help the home team out to a 2-0 lead. The Gothic Knights fought to stay alive in the third set, using a 5-0 run to claim a 25-23 score. Kirchner had six of those kills in the fourth set, as one of her enders put the Profs on top, 11-2. The lead never got below seven points as Rowan put the wraps on the match with a 25-17 result.

Brenda Gonzalez led NJCU with 11 kills and added seven digs. Teammate Leah Seickendick kicked in 10 for the visitors.

Rowan heads to DeSales this weekend for a quad match. The Profs take on Drew on Friday at 5 p.m. before matches with Hamilton (2 p.m.) and the host Bulldogs (4 p.m.) on Saturday.
