Kean Pushes Past Women's Basketball, 68-64, Despite Double-Doubles from Marshall and Adams

UNION, NJ –  Kean outscored Rowan in the fourth quarter to pull ahead late and defeat Rowan, 68-64, in an NJAC women's basketball contest despite double-doubles from the Profs' Grace Marshall and Dakota Adams.
 
Trailing 51-42 entering the fourth quarter, Kean (10-6), outscored Rowan, 27-13, in the final eight minutes to earn the victory.
 
Marshall had 15 points and 12 rebounds for Rowan while Adams had 10 points and 13 rebounds. Savanna Holt netted 14 points and Sam Rinaldi chipped in with 10 for the Profs, who are now 11-6 overall, and 9-2 in the league.
 
Kean took its first lead since the opening minute of the game, 60-57, on a three-pointer by Shannon McCoy with 1:34 to play. Holt answered with a layup to pull the Profs within 60-59, before Kean scored seven consecutive points to put the game out of reach, leading 67-59 with 22 seconds to go.
 
Rowan led for all but four minutes in the game, starting out strong and ending the first quarter with eight straight points from Marshall and Holt to take a 16-5 lead.
 
In the second, the Profs built that advantage up to 27-10, as Eliana Santana had four points in a quick spurt, but Kean fought back with a 13-2 run in the final four minutes of the quarter to cut the Rowan lead to 29-23 at halftime.
 
Rowan led 51-40 at the end of the third quarter but Kean started to make its move, pulling within two points, 54-52, with five minutes to play in that quarter.
 
Kean shot 46 percent from the field in the fourth quarter to aid the win, while Rowan went just 0-for-5 from three-point range.  
 
Rowan will be back in action on Wednesday, January 26, when it heads to Stockton.
