NEWPORT, RI – The Rowan football team returns to action after a week off and is headed for a first-ever meeting with Salve Regina University on Saturday, September 25. Kickoff is at noon at Toppa Field at Freebody Park.

This marks the first road game of the year for the Profs and the team is seeking its first win of the season after opening the year with a pair of home losses to Widener (27-22) and Springfield (46-24).
Salve Regina (3-0) has scored victories over Norwich (38-0), MIT (21-16) and Rowan's NJAC rival Montclair State (24-21).
Junior
Mike Husni is the Profs' starting QB for the second consecutive year. He is 25-for-43 so far, passing for four touchdowns. Husni is also averaging 64 yards per game on the ground. WR
John Maldonado ranks fourth in the NJAC in receiving with 13 receptions for 114 yards, and one touchdown scored in the opener against Widener.
Defensively,
AJ Akins leads the Profs so far with a team-high 24 tackles, including 10 solo and 3.0 sacks. LB
Mike Mascioli has nine solo tackles and 19 total, while LB
Tim Hutchison tops Rowan with 11 solo tackles.
Calvin Harper has the team's lone interception this year with one pick in the Widener game.
Following this game, the Profs have another week layoff before opening the NJAC season on October 9 at Kean. Rowan returns home on Saturday, October 16 to face Salisbury.
