MAHWAH, NJ – Rowan's
Wilby Alfred scored the winning goal with just 37 seconds to play to lift the #21 Profs to a 1-0 win over Ramapo in the NJAC opener. It marked the second match in a row that the sophomore netted the winning goal for the 6-0 Profs (1-0 NJAC).
Wilby broke the scoreless tie at 89:23 to notch his team-high fifth goal of the season.
Aflred was named the United Soccer Coaches Division III Player of the Week, as well as the NJAC Player of the Week, last week as he had four goals in two games, including the golden goal in overtime to defeat Washington College, 3-2, last week.
James Weinberg faced eight shots and made two saves to post his second shutout of the year.
Rowan outshot the home team, 17-8, in the game with
Anthony Arena and
Chad Yates totaling three shots apiece.
The Profs return to action in a week when they finally play their home opener, on Saturday, September 25, as they host Rutgers-Newark at 7 p.m. at the Rowan Soccer Field.
