RADNOR, PA –
Marcellus Ross had a career-high 19 points and 11 rebounds and
Andrew Seager and
Arian Azemi added 16 points apiece as Rowan (6-1) scored an 80-71 victory at Cabrini (4-5) in non-conference men's basketball action.
Ross, in his first season with the Profs, came off the bench to hit for 19 points, with three three-pointers, while recording the first double-double of his career.
Azemi had four three-pointers in the game, Seager grabbed six rebounds, and
D'Andre Vilmar also posted eight boards.
Cabrini led the entire first half and by as much as six points early in the second half, before Seager scored seven in a row to give the Profs their first lead, 49-48, at 13:03. Cabrini regained it briefly, but Ross connected on one of his threes to tie the score at 54-54. A pair of free throws by
Stretch Hawkins and a three-point field goal by Azemi started off a 9-0 run by Rowan that put them in front for good, 63-54, with 8:09 remaining.
Rowan remained in control the rest of the way and led by as much as 11, 80-69, with 1:05 left in the game.
Cabrini shot over 47 percent in the first half but cooled off to 36 percent in the second. The Cavaliers also struggled from the foul line, making just 9-of-22 in the game, while turning the ball over 26 times.
Despite an 8-for-43 shooting effort from behind the arc, the Profs got 39 points from their bench and took advantage of the giveaways by Cabrini, scoring 24 points off turnovers.
Rowan, which is in the midst of a six-game road stretch, gets right back into NJAC play when it visits Rutgers-Camden on Wednesday evening.
