GLASSBORO, NJ –
Andrew Seager scored a career-high 27 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to lead Rowan to 99-91 win over Kean in NJAC men's basketball action at Esby Gym.
Arian Azemi added 18 points for the Profs.
Marcellus Ross had a season-high 17 points, on 7-for-12 shooting, along with seven rebounds off the bench, while
Hafeez Melvin chipped in with 10 points for Rowan (5-1; 2-1 NJAC)
Seager connected on 9-for-14 from the field and had two blocks as he recorded his second double-double of the season.
Rowan fought back from a 14-point deficit at the start of the second half to earn the victory. The Profs chipped away and when trailing, 59-50, outscored the Cougars, 16-3, to take the lead, 66-62. Ross had six points in the swing with Seager contributing four.
From there, the lead changed hands multiple times but the Profs took the lead for good, 76-73, on a three-pointer by Azemi with 8:03 remaining. After Kean came within one, 85-84, the Profs built the lead back up to 91-86, and closed it out with five straight points, ending the game on a fastbreak dunk by
Connor Dickerson.
Kean (6-2; 1-2) made 6-of-13 three-pointers in the first half while the Profs were just 3-for-15 from behind the arc. Rowan fell behind and Kean scored six straight to go up, 41-30, and then hold a 50-39 lead at halftime.
Rowan will go on the road for its next six games, starting with a date at Rutgers-Camden on Wednesday, December 8. The Profs return home to Esby Gym on January 5 to meet NJCU.
