Marcellus Ross scored 19 points while
Andrew Seager and
Arian Azemi netted 17 apiece to lead the Rowan men's basketball team to an 88-85 win at Salisbury (4-7). It was the Profs' fifth consecutive win to improve to 9-1, while they remain perfect on the road at 6-0.
Connor Dickerson scored 11 points as did
Hafeez Melvin, who also added a team-high five assists.
The game featured seven lead changes and nine ties, including a 70-70 tie with 10:59 remaining. But from there, the Profs took charge by outscoring the Sea Gulls, 11-3, with a three-point play from Seager giving Rowan an 81-73 lead at 6:25.
Over the course of the final four minutes, Rowan had an answer every time Salisbury pulled closer. Seager's layup at 4:05 pushed the lead to eight points and Dickerson hit a jumper with 1:13 remaining to give Rowan an 86-80 lead.
The Profs trailed most of the first half but when down by four, 36-32, they went on an 11-0 run capped by a three-point play from Seager to go up, 43-36, with 2:04 to go. Ross had 13 points in the half and Dickerson scored with :08 remaining in the half to send Rowan into halftime holding a 47-42 lead.
Rowan takes a break for the holiday and returns to action on December 29-30 at the Doc Greene Tournament at Juniata, taking on John Carroll in the opener.
