GLASSBORO, NJ –
Dakota Adams had 11 points and nine rebounds and
Nicole Mallard scored nine to lead Rowan to a 53-45 win over Stockton in NJAC women's basketball action at Esby Gym. The win snaps a two-game losing streak for Rowan (2-4; 1-1 NJAC).
Savanna Holt grabbed a team-high eight rebounds for Rowan with
Grace Marshall adding six boards.
Leading 24-21 at halftime, the Profs began to break things open in the second half as they started the third quarter with a 9-0 run. Mallard had a three-point play in the spurt while
Jazlyn Duverglas hit a three as the home team took a 33-21 lead.
Stockton fought back in the fourth quarter and cut the deficit to 39-31 on a three-pointer by Madison Larosa, and eventually came within five, 39-34. Rowan then answered with six straight, four by Duverglas, to build its lead back up to double digits, 45-34.
The Ospreys closed to within five points again, 47-42, with 3:13 remaining, before the Profs'
Kristina Johnson hit a three-pointer and Adams made three free throws, including one at 2:09, to help seal the win.
Rowan held a decisive advantage in bench scoring, with the Profs' subs outscoring Stockton, 30-9. The Profs also made 70 percent (19-for-27) from the line to offset a 22 percent shooting effort from the field.
Rowan returns to action at home on Saturday, December 4, when it hosts Kean at 3 p.m.
