Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's Basketball Suffers First Loss, Falling to Stockton, 98-69

GLASSBORO, NJ – Stockton used a balanced scoring effort to hand Rowan its first defeat of the season, 98-69, in an NJAC men's basketball game in Esby Gym. The Profs are now 4-1 (1-1 NJAC).

The visiting Ospreys held the Profs to a season-low in points as Rowan had scored 100-plus points in three of its first four games.

Stretch Hawkins was the only Rowan player in double figures with 10 points off the bench, while Andrew Seager had a team-high nine rebounds. Hafeez Melvin added eight points and seven rebounds.

Stockton (6-1; 2-0) was hot from the start taking a 19-7 lead in the first seven minutes, and increased it to 24-9 while capitalizing on Rowan's struggle from the perimeter (3-of-19 FGs). The Profs never gave up, however, and went on a 10-run to pull within, 24-21, after a jumper by Damian Smith at 9:47.

Stockton answered back and increased the lead to double digits again, 32-21, before both went scoreless for three minutes. The Ospreys maintained the double-figure lead for the rest of the half and took a 43-31 lead into intermission.

The visitors were able to expand on their lead in the second half with Rowan coming only as close as 71-47 on a jumper by Josh Wright with nine minutes to play.

Rowan gets back to action on Saturday when it hosts Kean at 1 p.m.
