WAYNE, NJ – The Rowan men's soccer team fought to a 2-2 overtime tie with William Paterson in an NJAC soccer matchup today. The Profs are now 8-1-1 (3-1-1 NJAC) on the season.
William Paterson's Jacob Von Giebel scored in the fifth minute to take the early lead, but the Profs were awarded a penalty kick and
Chad Yates converted it at 33:56 for his third goal of the season.
The Profs jumped ahead, 2-1, early in the second half when Jay Vandermakr took a pass from
Jake Logar and converted his third of the year at 51:14.
Von Giebel scored the eventual winning goal at 52:20 to give William Paterson (4-7-2; 0-4-1) the 2-1 lead that held up as neither team could score the rest of the way.
Rowan held a slim 19-14 edge in shots, but had 10 corner kicks to the Pioneers' five.
James Weinberg made one save on the day for Rowan with WP's Thomas Hatch needing to make six.
Rowan is back in action on Wednesday, October 13, when it hosts Stockton in a key NJAC matchup at 7 p.m.
