Alfred's Goal Lifts Men's Soccer Over Stockton, 1-0, in NJAC First Round

Profs headed to top-seeded Montclair State on Wednesday

GLASSBORO, NJ – Wilby Alfred scored the game-winning goal in the first half as fourth-seeded Rowan shut out fifth-seeded Stockton, 1-0, in the first round of the NJAC Tournament. The Profs now advance to the conference semifinals at top-seeded Montclair State on Wednesday, November 3 at 7 p.m.

Alfred scored when he put in the rebound of his own shot, after the initial shot was saved by Stockton keeper Dino Gromitsaris at 38:00. It was the team-high eighth goal of the year from Alfred and his third gamewinner of the season, also the best on the squad.

Stockton had four corner kicks in the final 10 minutes of the match, and Joseph Carbone's shot with :05 to play was blocked and Rowan preserved the win.

Rowan outshot the Ospreys, and goalkeeper James Weinberg made four saves to earn his sixth shutout of the season.

The NJAC Championship match is scheduled for November 6 at the site of the highest seeded team that is remaining.
