Women's Lacrosse Drops 16-7 Decision to #7 Salisbury

SALISBURY, MD – Seventh-ranked Salisbury (2-1) scored eight consecutive goals in the second half en route to a 16-7 win over Rowan in non-conference women's lacrosse action at Sea Gull Stadium.
 
Shannen Sterner had three goals and Ashley Lechliter scored two to lead Rowan (1-2) in their second straight game against a Top 10 team.
 
Sterner opened the game's scoring with a man-up goal but Salisbury followed with four straight tallies. Lechliter, Sterner and Julia Grlica then scored as Rowan trailed, 7-4, at the end of the first half.
 
Salisbury's Lydia McNulty scored two of the Sea Gulls' first three goals in the second half on their 8-0 run which spanned the first 20 minutes of the period, allowing the home team to take a 15-4 lead.
 
Lechlither and Sterner scored two of the Profs' last three goals, with Jamie Cutrera adding her first career tally.
 
Sterner had three ground balls, two caused turnovers and four draw controls to lead Rowan while Reilly Shaup made seven saves.
 
The Profs return to action on Saturday at Stevens Tech and open their home season on March 11 hosting Washington (MD).
