NEW ORLEANS, LA – The Rowan University men's indoor track & field team had 10 individuals and two relays receive All-Atlantic Region honors from the U.S. Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association.
The individual student-athletes included
Jah'mere Beasley (60 meters, 200 meters),
Justin Bishop (400 meters),
Rakim Coyle (long jump),
Earnest Daniel (high jump),
Ahmir Johnson (triple jump),
Kevin King (60 meter hurdles),
Adonis McGee (high jump),
John Owens (long jump),
Julian Pratt (60 meters) and
Frankie Richard (long jump).
The All-Region 4x400 meter relay included Beasley, Bishop,
Jake Kolodziej and
Francis Terry.
Nick Neville,
Vincent Delle,
Joe DeVito and
Kevin Lauer made up the All-Region distance medley relay. The top five individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region honors, in addition to the members of the top three relay teams. This year, a total of 850 athletes received the distinction.
In his rookie season, Beasley won the 200 meters with a time of 22.20 at the All-Atlantic Region Championships. His top performance in the 60 meters was 6.94 for second place at the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Championships. Beasley was third in the region in the 200 meters and fourth in the 60 meters. Bishop ran 49.17 in the 400 meters for fourth place at the National Fastrack Invitational. His time was fourth in the region.
Coyle took first place in the long jump with 23' 7.5" (7.20 m) at the All-Atlantic Region Championships. He finished second in the region. Daniel had a season best of 6' 6.75" (2.00 m) to win the high jump at the Seahawk Shootout. Johnson was the winner in the triple jump at the All-Atlantic Region Championship. He had a distance of 48' 8.25" (14.84 m), which ranked first in the region.
King finished in 8.24 to win the 60 meter hurdles at the All-Atlantic Region Championships. He was in the fifth spot in the region. McGee produced a top height of 6" 6.75" (2.00 m) at the Albany Winter Classic and was fourth. He was tied with Daniel for fourth in the region. Pratt came in first (6.92) in the 60 meter dash at the NJAC Championships. His time improved on his Rowan mark of 6.93 from last year's conference championships. He came in third in the region.
Owens' season best of 23' 2" (7.06 m) in the long jump for third place was at the NYC Gotham Cup. Richard had his top performance in the long jump at the All-Atlantic Region. Championships. He finished third with 23' 3.25" (7.09 m). Owens and Richard were third in their respective events.
At the All-Atlantic Region Championships, the 4x400 meter relay had a winning time of 3:17.02, which was a meet and facility record. The first place distance medley relay set a facility record in 10:06.06. In the region, the 4x400 meter relay ranked first and the distance medley relay was second.
This season, Rowan won its sixth straight NJAC Championship. The Profs also claimed their third consecutive All-Atlantic Region Championship. Coyle, Johnson, Richard, the 4x400 meter relay and distance medley relay all qualified for the NCAA Division III Championships on Friday-Saturday, March 13-14 and the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, NC.
