Women's Lacrosse Falls to #10 Catholic, 18-6

WASHINGTON, DC – The Rowan women's lacrosse team fell behind in the first half to 10th-ranked Catholic and couldn't overcome the deficit, suffering an 18-6 loss on the road.

The Cardinals staked a 3-0 lead before Ashley Lechliter got the Profs on the board with two straight goals, with the second assisted by Julia Grlica. Then Catholic scored the next five in a row over 13 minutes, giving the home team an 8-2 lead at 4:35.
 
Dara Hennessy scored Rowan's next goal but Catholic ended the half with two more from Dara Regan in a span of 12 seconds to take a 10-3 lead at halftime.
 
Rowan opened the second half scoring two of the first three goals, with man-up tallies first by Julianna Corson, assisted by Julia Stumpf, and by Johanna Diehl. Catholic answered with five consecutive goals to own a 16-4 lead with 16 minutes remaining.
 
Abby Daigle, who also led Rowan with four ground balls, netted the Profs' final goal of the day with an unassisted tally at 8:57 before Catholic posted two more to provide the final margin.
 
Reilly Shaup made 15 saves for Rowan as she faced 42 shots by Catholic, and 33 shots on goal. Natalie DePersia posted three ground balls for the Profs.
 
Rowan has a pair of road games this week, heading to Salisbury on Wednesday and to Stevens Tech on Saturday.
