Men's Soccer Suffers First Loss vs. Staten Island, 2-1

GLASSBORO - The Rowan University men's soccer team suffered its first loss of the season to the College of Staten Island, 2-1, in the Ciaella Classic hosted by Rutgers Camden. The Profs finished second in the four-team tournament and are now 3-1 on the year.

On Sunday, CSI took the lead at 19:24 on a goal by Philip Lefkowitz and upped it to 2-0 just seven minutes later on a header by Christian Puccio.

Wilby Alfred scored the Profs' goal at 29:46, punching in a ball after a cross into the box, which was originally stopped by the CSI goalkeeper.

Senior back Moudou Sowe, freshman forward Jay Vandermark and sophomore goalkeeper James Weinberg were named to the All-Tournament Team for Rowan.

The Profs will travel to Chicago next weekend, facing the University of Chicago on Friday and North Park University on Saturday.
