GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University women's lacrosse team defeated Stockton University, 16-7 on Tuesday night.
Attack
Maddie Bray (sr. Medford Lakes, NJ/Shawnee) led the way with six goals. Attack
Jess Havers (jr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) contributed with three goals and one assist. Midfielders
Taylor Gretz (sr. Woolwich Twp., NJ/Kingsway Reg.) and
Liz Kramer (sr. Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Reg.) added two goals apiece.
Attack
Ashley Lechliter (so. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill W.) chipped in with a goal and an assist.
Attacks
Dara Hennessy (so. Marmora, NJ/Ocean City) and
Julia Stumpf (jr. Sewell, NJ/Clearview Reg.) each scored one time. Attack
Mikala Gillespie (sr. Ocean City, NJ/Ocean City) and midfielder
Julia Grlica (so. Jefferson, NJ/Jefferson Twp.) both had an assist.
Emma Frost (sr. Washington, NJ/Warren Hills Reg.) and
Reilly Shaup (fr. Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Reg.) were the Profs' goalies. Shaup turned away 14 shots. Gretz and Kramer each totaled five draw controls.
Rowan is 7-4 overall and 2-0 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference. The Ospreys have an 8-3 record with a 1-1 conference mark.
Midfielder Michelle Pascrell (fr. Howell, NJ/Freehold Twp.) scored four goals for Stockton. Attack Casey Shultz (fr. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) collected one goal and one assist. Midfielders Jennifer Toal (fr. Pine Beach, NJ/Toms River S.) and Danielle Graham (so. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill W.) registered one goal apiece while attack Gaby Ojeda (sr. Galloway, NJ/Absegami) had an assist. Goalie Brooke Hallett (sr. Absecon, NJ/Holy Spirit) made 13 saves.
Stockton jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the first half. Bray (22:12), Kramer (21:20), Stumpf (18:14) and Gretz (17:31) each scored to go ahead 5-3. Toal had an unassisted goal at 5:27, which made the score 5-4. The Profs answered with three straight for an 8-4 advantage at the break. Bray produced two goals while Havers had one.
Rowan started the second period with six unanswered goals and the score was 14-4 with 17:35 left. Havers and Bray each hit the net two times while Kramer and Hennessy had one goal apiece. Graham ended the streak at the 12 minute mark.
Bray recorded her sixth goal at 11:10 to lead 15-5. Pascrell scored Stockton's sixth (5:02) and seventh (2:52) goals, which made the score, 16-7. Lechliter had a goal for the Profs (4:28) in between with an assist from Grlica.
Rowan travels to conference opponent Ramapo College on Saturday, April 13 for a 1 p.m. game.
