GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University women's lacrosse team won its conference opener, 15-13 against Kean University on Saturday afternoon.
Midfielders
Liz Kramer (sr. Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Reg.) and
Taylor Gretz (sr. Woolwich Twp., NJ/Kingsway Reg.) and attack
Elise Cohan (fr. Far Hills, NJ/Bernards) each scored four goals. Kramer also had two assists. Attack
Maddie Bray (sr. Medford Lakes, NJ/Shawnee) contributed with a goal and an assist.

Mikala Gillespie (sr. Ocean City, NJ/Ocean City) and defender
Haley Symons (sr. Harrington Park, NJ/Northern Valley Old Tappan) registered one goal apiece. Attack
Jess Havers (jr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) and midfielder
Shannen Sterner (fr. Kendall Park, NJ/South Brunswick) each added an assist.
Goalie
Emma Frost (sr. Washington, NJ/Warren Hills Reg.) made five saves in 48 minutes while goalie
Reilly Shaup (fr. Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Reg.) had two saves in 12 minutes. Kramer totaled six draw controls and Gretz collected four ground balls.
For the Cougars (3-8), midfielders Danni LeSaint (jr. Tabernacle, NJ/Seneca) and Katie Pileggi (so. Haddonfield, NJ/Haddonfield Mem.) scored four goals apiece. Attack Morgan Graham (sr. Lake Grove, NY/Ward Melville) produced three goals and midfielder Taylor Nyberg (sr. Poughquag, NY/Arlington) had two. Attack Sarah Powers (sr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill E.) assisted on one goal.
Goalie Josie Pagano (jr. Monroe, NJ/Monroe Twp.) turned away 10 shots. Pileggi and LeSaint totaled seven and five draw controls respectively.
Gillespie (29:14) and Kramer (26:18) each scored to start the second period. The Profs were ahead 9-6. Kramer's free position goal (22:59) kept Rowan up by three (10-7). Graham followed with an unassisted score (22:03) and Kean trailed 10-8. Symons (21:53) and Cohan (20:48) both found the net to lead 12-8.
The teams traded goals (13-9) then the Cougars scored four straight, which tied the score at 13. Pileggi had two while Nyberg and Graham each had one. Gretz scored with a free position shot, which put Rowan ahead 14-13 (7:32). Kramer recorded the final goal at 5:03 with a pass from Bray.
The score was tied four times in the first half. LeSaint hit the net at 9:49, which knotted the game at five. Rowan answered with scores by Gretz (9:12) and Cohan (9:03) to lead 7-5. LeSaint cut the deficit to one (7-6) with an unassisted goal at 4:38 to end the period.
Rowan (6-4) is home again versus conference opponent Stockton University on Tuesday, April 9 at 7 p.m.
