Women's Lacrosse Outscores Stevens, 10-2 In Second Half For 17-6 Win

GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University women's lacrosse team outscored Stevens Institute of Technology, 10-2 in the second half for a 17-6 win on Saturday.
 
The Profs improve to 2-1 on the season while the Ducks have a 1-3 record. This week, Rowan is ranked 23rdin the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association Poll.
 
Attack Maddie Bray (sr. Medford Lakes, NJ/Shawnee) scored seven goals. Midfielder Liz Kramer (sr. Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Reg.) contributed with three goals and two assists.  Attack Jess Havers (jr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) followed with three goals while attack Reese Parr (sr. Freehold, NJ/Freehold) had two assists.  
 
Midfielder Shannen Sterner (fr. Kendall Park, NJ/South Brunswick) added one goal and one assist.  Attacks Dara Hennessy (so. Marmora, NJ/Ocean City) and Julia Stumpf (jr. Sewell, NJ/Clearview Reg.) and midfielder Taylor Gretz (sr. Woolwich Twp., NJ/Kingsway Reg.) all scored one time.  Attack Ashley Lechliter (so. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill W.) chipped in with an assist.
 
Defender Haley Symons (sr. Harrington Park, NJ/Northern Valley Old Tappan) collected seven draw controls and Kramer had six.  Goalie Emma Frost (sr. Washington, NJ/Warren Hills Reg.) stopped seven shots.
 
Attack Kyra Bednarski (jr. Syracuse, NY/West Genesee) led Stevens with three goals.  Midfielder Emily Shanklin (jr. Berkeley, MI/Marian) hit the net two times and midfielder Morgan Westerby (fr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) had one score.  
 
Defender Kayla Buell (jr. Kings Park, NY/Kings Park) collected six ground balls and three caused turnovers.  Goalie Peyton Taylor (so. Phillipsburg, NJ/Phillipsburg) made 19 saves.
 
Rowan started the second half with a 7-4 lead.  The Profs scored three straight for a 10-4 advantage with 23:05 remaining.  Havers produced two goals and Bray had one.  Bednarski scored at 22:10 and the Ducks trailed 10-5.  Rowan had another run of four goals, which made the score 14-5 at 13:37.  Havers, Kramer, Bray and Stumpf all had one goal.  Shanklin scored Steven's last goal (12:11) with a free position shot.  Rowan ended the game with scores by Bray (11:32), Hennessy (6:12) and Gretz (1:00). 
 
Next week, Rowan is home against St. Mary's College (MD) on Wednesday, March 13 at 4 p.m.
