Women's Basketball Wins 87-85 In Overtime At Cabrini

RADNOR, PA – The Rowan University women's basketball team defeated Cabrini University, 87-85 in overtime.  The Profs have an eight-game win streak and they are 11-1 on the season.
 
Forward Eliana Santana scored a game-high 23 points and grabbed nine rebounds.  Center Ayanna Johnson recorded a season mark with 21 points.  She compiled 17 boards, eight blocks and three assists.  
 
Guard Nicole Mallard contributed with 17 points and seven rebounds.  Guard Kennedy Brown added 13 points and guard Grace Marshall had 10.  
 
The score was tied at 72 at the end of the fourth quarter.  Mallard sank two foul shots (0:27) and Johnson made one (0:16) to lead 72-69. With one second left, guard/forward Lexi Edwards nailed a three-pointer, which tied the score for overtime.
 
Rowan made three straight baskets to lead 78-72 at 3:31.  Mallard, Brown and Johnson each had one.  Guard Cassidy Gallagher had a layup (2:39) and Cabrini trailed by one (78-77).  Santana followed with a three (2:27) and Mallard hit a layup (1:50) to go up by six (83-77).
 
At the minute mark, Gallagher sank two free throws to cut the deficit to one (83-82).  Johnson produced a basket (0:30) while Mallard (0:15) and Brown (0:03) each made a foul shot to lead 87-82.  Cabrini forward Kate Lannon scored with a three as time expired.
 
It was the final game of the Cabrini University Classic.  On Monday, Dec. 30, Rowan had a 109-86 win over Eastern University.
 
Forward Katie Rodriguez led the Cavaliers (7-4) with 18 points off the bench and Edwards followed with 17.  Guard Ashley Tutzauer totaled 16 points and Gallagher had 12 points and six rebounds.  Lannon collected 10 points and nine boards.
