Women's Basketball Defeats WP, 75-63 With 24 Rebounds By Johnson

GLASSBORO, NJ – Center Ayanna Johnson grabbed 24 rebounds and recorded nine blocks for the Rowan University women's basketball team in a 75-63 win over William Paterson University.
 
Johnson tied her school record for blocks in a game. She also chipped in with eight points, three assists and three steals.  Guard Savanna Holt contributed with a career-high 18 points.  Guard Alexis Kriley totaled 15 points and guard Nicole Mallard compiled 12 points and nine boards.
 
The Profs are 12-1 overall with a nine game win streak.  They are tied for first place in the New Jersey Athletic Conference with a 6-0 mark. The Pioneers are 6-7 on the season and 4-2 in the conference.
 
Guard Madison Dulude led William Paterson with 17 points and six rebounds.  Guard Alisa Giordano produced 14 points, seven boards, four assists and five steals. 
 
The Profs were ahead 37-28 at halftime.  They outscored the Pioneers, 26-11 in the third quarter to lead by 24 points (63-39).  Giordano's layup at 7:27 pulled William Paterson within six (41-35).  Rowan closed the period with a 22-4 surge. Mallard led the way with 10 points while Holt scored seven.  Guard Kennedy Brown added three points and Johnson had two.
 
In the final quarter, Brown made a layup (5:23) and the score was 65-45.  William Paterson answered with an 11-2 run and trailed 67-56 with 2:32 left.  Guard Danica Defrank, forward/guard Ema Jacketti and Giordano each hit a three-pointer while guard Brianna Brooks had a basket.  Holt's layup made the score 73-57 with 1:49 left.  Jacketti, Giordano and Dulude all sank jumpers to trail 73-63 at the 21 second mark. Holt scored with a layup (0:01) to end the scoring.
