Sanders Leads Balanced Effort in Men's Basketball's 92-74 Win over Dickinson

ASHLAND, VA – Maliq Sanders scored 16 points and led a balanced scoring effort as Rowan defeated Dickinson, 92-74, in the opening round of the Randolph-Macon College Coaches Tournament. The Profs will play again Monday in the championship game at 4 p.m. against seventh-ranked Randolph-Macon (10-0).

Sanders also grabbed six rebounds and a career-high steals while Connor Dickerson had 13 points and seven rebounds.  Ryan O'Leary and Diante Bah (5-of-6 FG) chipped in with 12 apiece with Austin Kearney adding 11 points for the Profs (5-5).

After trailing in the opening minutes, the Profs tied the score, 13-13, on a three-pointer by Kearney and then eventually built up a 27-20 lead. Dickinson regained the lead, but Dickerson and O'Leary combined to score nine points in the final 1:38 to give Rowan a 41-36 advantage at halftime.

The Profs opened the second half with a 12-4 run, led by seven from O'Leary, to take a 53-40 lead by the 15-minute mark. Rowan would increase it to 67-49 after four straight fast break points from Marko Pantovic. The Profs coasted from there, holding a 22-point margin with 1:16 to play.

Randolph-Macon defeated Lebanon Valley, 94-56, to advance to the title game.
