GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University women's swimming & diving team won 226-71 against Montclair State University in a conference meet.
Rowan took first place in 14 individual events and two relays. The 200 medley relay of
Abigail Brous,
Emily Kopchick,
Daria Mnich and
Jordan McChesney swam a winning time of 1:48.70. The 400 freestyle relay finished first in 3:44.81. Brous,
Kylie Salerno,
Elizabeth O'Brien and McChesney made up the free relay.
Corinne Finkbinder took first place in the one-meter (six dives) with 259.13 points. She totaled 454.20 points to win the one-meter (11 dives) and broke the school record. The old mark was 441.80 points by Samantha Rottkamp in 2012.
Klaudia Rzotkiewicz finished second in the one-meter (six dives) (248.55) and one-meter (11 dives) (441.53). Both divers qualified for the NCAA Regional.
The Profs are 2-1 overall and 2-0 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference. Rowan is the defending conference champion. The Red Hawks have a 2-3 record with a 1-1 conference mark
Brous had a first place (59.53) in the 100 backstroke and was second (2:12.73) in the 200 backstroke. McChesney was the winner in the 50 (25.08) and 100 (53.95) freestyles. Mnich captured first (1:01.01) in the 100 butterfly and Salerno was second (1:01.35).
Kopchick finished first (1:08.37) in the 100 breaststroke while
Nicole Harms and
Megan Miller were second (1:09.52) and third (1:09.76) respectively. In the 200 breaststroke, Kopchick was the winner in 2:29.71. Miller had a third place (57.51) in the 100 free.
Carlee Timmins was the winner in the 1000 (10:45.77) and 500 (5:15.92) freestyles. She also took second place (2:00.06) in the 200 free.
Veronica Alferez won (2:18.37) the 200 butterfly,
Jordan Jones was second (2:20.98) and
Abbi Schick came in third (2:24.35). Alferez had a first place (2:16.35) the 200 individual medley. She finished second (5:20.34) in the 500 freestyle and
Lindsay Cave followed third (5:32.88).
Emily LaBenski came in first (1:59.90) in the 200 freestyle and she was second (2:31.91) in the 200 breaststroke.
Alex Bambrick was the winner (2:11.21) in the 200 backstroke and was second (11:00.45) in the 1000 freestyle.
In the 100 backstroke, Salerno was second (1:02.38) followed by
Taylor DeGennaro, third (1:03.44). DeGennaro was also third (2:14.99) in the 200 backstroke.
Bailey Howarth came in third (2:34.69) in the 200 breaststroke.
Next, Rowan travels to William Paterson University on Saturday, Nov. 9 for a 1p.m. conference meet.
