Rowan battled through two overtime games in the NCAA First and Second Rounds last weekend to advance to the Sweet 16. The Profs were tied with Salve Regina, 0-0, after 110 minutes of play but won the shootout to earn the victory. Rowan then needed 102 minutes to defeat the host team, Mary Washington, 3-2, as Jay Vandermark scored in the second overtime.

Vandermark tops the team in scoring with 12 goals, and four game-winning goals, while Matt Hendrickson has seven tallies on the season. Goalkeeper James Weinberg owns a goals against average of 1.14 and has led the Profs to six shutouts this season, while limiting the foes to five goals in the last five matches.

The Profs are making their 28th all-time appearance in the NCAA Championship, and their first since 2017, and have won two titles, in 1990 and 1981. This is the furthest Rowan has advanced since reaching the quarterfinals in 2001 and the championship game in 2000.

The winner of the Rowan (12-5-4) vs. Amherst (16-1-2) matchup will face the Messiah (18-2-2) vs. RPI (15-2-4) winner in the Sectional Final on Sunday at 1 p.m. That winner will advance to the NCAA Division III Final four in Greensboro, NC, on December 6-7.
