UNION, NJ – Kean University scored the first two goals of the match to upset #16/17 Rowan University, 2-1, in NJAC men's soccer action on Saturday afternoon. The Profs are now 6-2-3 and 2-1-1 in conference play.
Max Acosta got Kean (6-4-1; 1-1-1) on the board first with a score at 36:20, which was his first tally of the season.
Jake Santos scored off a cross at 67:20 to put the Cougars ahead, 2-0.
James Schultz narrowed the deficit for Rowan to 2-1 at 71:27 when he netted his first goal of the year, but the Profs couldn't get the equalizer.
Rowan outshot Kean, 17-9, with 11 shots in the second half.
The Profs return to action on Saturday, October 12, on Homecoming night, when they host New Jersey City at 7:30 p.m. at Rowan Soccer Stadium.
