GLASSBORO, NJ – Freshman
Chad Yates scored two goals and junior
Matt Hendrickson had a goal and an assist to lead #22 Rowan to a 5-0 win over New Jersey City University in NJAC men's soccer action at the Rowan Soccer Stadium on the University's Homecoming night.
Rowan improves to 7-2-3 on the year and 3-1-1 in the conference while NJCU is 11-5 and 0-5 in the league.
Hendrickson opened the scoring for the Profs late in the first half, taking a through ball from
Wilby Alfred and slipping it past NJCU keeper Aldahir Cazun at 41:01.
Yates scored his first of the game right away in the second half, when
Alex Ferrara played the ball back to Yates, who sent a volley into the net at 46:17.
Yates scored again in the 60th minute as he took a ball from Hendrickson in the box, and dribbling to the left, sent a shot to the right.
Freshman
Ki Costa added the Profs' fourth goal when the ball was played to the end line and
Aaron Robertson sent a pass back to Costa for his score at 64:14.
Declan Riddell added the final goal at 89:16 when he controlled a header from a defender outside the box and scored from 20 yards out.
Rowan outshot the Knights, 24-5, and sophomore
James Weinberg and freshman
Shane McBride shared the shutout, with McBride making the Profs' only save of the night.
Rowan will next visit Rutgers-Camden on Wednesday, October 16 for a 7 p.m. match.
