#18 Men's Soccer Drops Match at Rutgers-Camden, 2-0

Box Score CAMDEN, NJ – The 18th-ranked Rowan men's soccer team was defeated by Rutgers-Camden, 2-0, in NJAC action tonight, marking the first time this season that the Profs (7-3-3; 3-2-1 NJAC) were shut out.

The contest was originally scheduled for Wednesday, October 16, but was moved to Thursday because of the forecast of high winds and heavy rain. The match ended up being played in dry conditions but with high wind gusts.

Rutgers-Camden (11-4-1; 4-1-1 NJAC) scored late in the first half as Kaito Kitazawa tallied an unassisted goal at 43:25.

The Scarlet Raptors added another in the second half when Cristian Ognibene collected a loose ball in the box and put it in at 67:23.

Rutgers-Camden held a 16-7 advantage in shots while goalkeeper Kieran Burns made four saves to notch the shutout.

Rowan goalkeeper James Weinberg made two saves in the match.

"Tonight was a great opportunity for us and we did not take advantage of it at all," said Rowan head coach Scott Baker. "We started the game nervous and allowed our opponents to take the momentum of the game early on and never won it back. Camden wanted it much more than we did tonight. It was a disappointing loss."

The Profs, ranked 18th by D3Soccer.com and 25th by the US Soccer Coaches, have a quick turnaround and will host Rutgers-Newark at home on Saturday night, October 19.
